George Bush’s Daughter Makes Huge Planned Parenthood Announcement
Barbara Pierce Bush, daughter of former President George W. Bush, will be this years keynote speaker at the annual luncheon in Fort Worth for Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas.
On Wednesday in North Texas Barbara Pierce Bush, daughter and granddaughter of former Republican presidents, will be the headline speaker at an annual Planned Parenthood Fundraiser, The Texas Tribune reports.
For anyone who has followed the career of Barbara Pierce Bush, her role at this fundraiser is not unexpected. But for those who only know her by her father and grandfather’s political careers this might come as a surprise, considering her father was always opposed to abortion while serving as governor of Texas and later as president of the United States.
Barbara follows in her mothers footsteps though. The former first lady has spoken out several times in support of abortion legality. The younger Bush is co-founder of an organization established in 2009 called Global Health Corps. In June Barbara Pierce Bush was interviewed by the New York Times and called Planned Parenthood an “exceptional organization.” She also attended a fundraiser last October for former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.
According to the Global Health Corps website:
‘Our mission is to mobilize a global community of young leaders to build the movement for health equality.’
Global Health Corps is partnered with several overseas organizations where it, reportedly, “places fellows in year long tenures” proving world health care. Among those organizations are several branches of Planned Parenthood.
Texas and Planned Parenthood share deep ties, one of them being that Cecile Richards, president of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America is the daughter of the late Ann Richards, former Texas governor.
Former president George W. Bush, father of Barbara Pierce Bush, snatched the position of Governor from Ann Richards in 1994. It’s believed that the campaign and subsequent victory was considered revenge, at least in part, to Richards’ keynote speech at the 1988 Democratic National Convention speech, during which she mocked his father and Barbara’s grandfather, former president George H. W. Bush.
