Trump is conducting very important business out on the golf course

When President Obama hit the links, he was shirking his responsibilities as a leader. When Trump spends millions of taxpayer dollars for weekend jaunts to his own private golf course at his Mar-a-Lago estate, he gets himself stuck in the sand traps for America. At least, that’s the distinction White House press secretary Sean Spicer made during Monday’s press briefing when asked about Trump’s frequent trips to the green.

Yahoo News correspondent Hunter Walker asked Spicer to comment on the fact that Trump has made “at least 10 trips to the golf course” since taking office despite the fact that Trump used to regularly snipe at Obama for “spending time on the course.”

“How is his golf game any different?” asked Walker.

Great question.

Spicer responded by arguing that Trump was using his time on the green to conduct serious presidential business that couldn’t have occurred in say, the Oval Office.

“Well, I think two things, one is you saw him utilize this as an opportunity with Prime Minister Abe to help foster deeper relationships in Southeast Asia, in Asia, rather, and have a growing relationship that’s going to help U.S. interests.” Spicer said. “How you use the game of golf is something that he’s talked about.”

Oh, for sure dude.

Spicer then tried to pull the “just because Trump went to Mar-a-Lago doesn’t mean he just goofed off all weekend” defense claiming that Trump has “had phone calls” and conducted “mini-cabinet meetings” on his private club grounds.

When Walker tried to press him on why the administration isn’t more forthcoming on all the “productive meetings” Trump is supposedly conducting out on the golf course, Spicer demurred: “I think, the president is entitled to a little bit of privacy.”

It’s worth pointing out that when Obama played golf with various dignitaries and politicians, he often did so locally as to not run up millions of dollars in costs to shuttle him to and from a private resort.
