Accused Pedophile Hired Hitman To Kill Child Victim And Her Family
POLK COUNTY, FL – A man accused of molesting a girl under the age of 12 has now been accused of trying to hire a hitman to kill her and her family so they could not testify against him at his upcoming trial.
Back in February 2013, 26-year-old Richard Palmer was accused of molesting a young girl.
According to the victim, who was under the age of 12 at the time, said she woke up to find Palmer in her bed with his hands in her panties.
He was arrested but got out on bail to await his trial on child sex offenses. However, in September Palmer’s bail was revoked after he assaulted a police officer while resisting arrest.
Now sitting in jail, Palmer decided the best way out of his situation was to keep the girl from being able to testify against him.
Palmer asked a fellow inmate if he knew anyone who could “X Out” the child and two female witnesses, providing him with a hand-drawn layout of the family’s home.
The inmate went to police instead, who had a detective call Palmer posing as the hitman, According to police, Palmer wanted the man to kill the girl and the witnesses in their home before setting it on fire.
If the deed was completed, he would pay the man $15,000 and a sports car.
Now instead of the child molestation charge, Palmer is looking at murder and arson charges which carry a sentence of life behind bars.
“Just when you think this man can’t get any lower, after being arrested for doing horrible things to a child, now he’s trying to hire someone to kill her and the witnesses,” Sheriff Grady Judd said in a statement.
