Top GOP Insider Says Trump Will Resign, Then Pence Makes Rubio VP
John Harwood is not just any pundit or journalist. He is an American journalist who is the chief Washington Correspondent for CNBC. He announced a prediction that a top Republican strategist told him months ago, saying:
Trump resigns “once Mueller closes in on him and the family, “Makes Rubio VP, GOP recovers”
This was worth revisiting, because there have been several events occur over the past few months that suggest Donald Trump just might throw in the towel and resign from president.
If you’ll recall, Tony Schwartz, Trump’s former ghostwriter for Trump’s book “Art of The Deal”, said long ago that Trump is laying the groundwork for his resignation.
Schwartz said back in August, “The circle is closing at blinding speed. Trump is going to resign and declare victory before Mueller and congress leave him no choice.”
This man spent a massive chunk of time with Trump while writing for him over recent years. He probably understands Trump’s headspace better than anyone, so his assessment of the situation can be given a considerable amount of weight. Turns out, he just may be right.
Michael Flynn is currently negotiating a plea deal with Robert Mueller in the Russia scandal, and Trump is clearly rattled.
All of a sudden, Trump seems like he wants out. He’s instructing Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner to leave Washington DC, which is rather odd. Couple that with the remarks he’s making to people close to him and it’s clear he wants out.
Bill Palmer points out:
“On their own, each of these pieces would only elicit a moment of head scratching. But when placed in context of each other, they appear to tell a much more convincing story. First we got word this week that Donald Trump is actively trying to convince Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner to resign from the White House and move back to New York City (link). Why would he do this? Even though he never takes her advice, he can’t function without Ivanka at his side.”
“Then came another clue when Donald Trump’s ex-wife Ivana began pushing the narrative yesterday that Donald is “exhausted” and that he misses his “old life.” (link). We know that the two of them still talk. Where would she suddenly get this oddly specific narrative from, unless she got it directly from him? It feels like even more groundwork being laid. Then came the big clue that put it all in context.”

Trump took to Twitter recently yo say: “Since the first day I took office, all you hear is the phony Democrat excuse for losing the election, Russia, Russia, Russia. Despite this I have the economy booming and have possibly done more than any 10 month President. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
Trump has spent the entire year ignoring the Russia scandal altogether, but now he’s talking about it, calling it “Phony” and declaring victory, pointing out what he’s been about to accomplish.
Sounds EXACTLY like what Tony Schwartz predicted back in August, and sounds exactly like what John Harwood was told by the top Republican insider, doesn’t it?
Trump thinks he can take credit for the economy and the stock market that were set into motion by President Obama, and imaginary jobs that he claims to have created, so in Trump’s mind, he can claim that he has had a successful 10 months and ride of into the sunset as a success. He may see resigning now like quitting while he’s ahead.
While no one else would see it that way, Trump’s clearly comfortable believing what he wants despite the reality that everyone else sees. He’s made that type of thing a theme of his campaign and presidency.
If he resigns now, despite what he thinks, the ongoing investigations into his crimes would not just come to a halt. So while we can all hope the resignation is coming soon, we can bet it won’t be the end of Trump taking over our headlines.
