Emails Present Farenthold’s Pursuit of Lobbying Job
Emails between former Rep. Blake Farenthold and his new employer present the disgraced Texas Republican was angling for a lobbying job shortly after resigning from Congress.
The emails obtained by the Dallas Morning Information by an open information request confirmed Farenthold was pushing for a solution on the lobbying job with the port authority in his former district.
“What’s up with the legal professionals?” he requested in a single e-mail to Calhoun Port Authority Director Charles Hausmann on April 30. “I’m able to get work for y’all.”
Earlier this week, Farenthold introduced he landed the job he wished as a legislative liaison for the Port of Port Lavaca-Level Consolation. The aim of the job will likely be to extend the ports’ “presence and visibility in Washington.”
Farenthold resigned from Congress on April 6 after it was revealed he settled a sexual harassment declare with $84,000 in taxpayer cash.
After initially saying he would pay the cash again to the federal authorities, he advised ABC New this week that he wouldn’t.
