James Gunn rehired to direct Marvel’s ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’
Gunn, who wrote and directed the primary two installments of the Marvel Cinematic Universe sci-fi franchise, was reinstated because the director of the subsequent movie after a number of months of conferences with Disney studio officers, together with Walt Disney Studios President Alan Horn.
The director, who penned a script for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 previous to his dismissal, was faraway from the movie in July after alt-right journalists unearthed decades-old social media posts through which Gunn made jokes about topics together with pedophilia and rape.
Gunn had apologized for the tweets years earlier, and apologized once more when the jokes resurfaced. Horn was reportedly swayed by Gunn’s apology and his conduct after his firing.
Marvel Studios has agreed to start filming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 when Gunn has accomplished work on Suicide Squad 2 for Warner Bros. and Marvel’s rival, DC.
