THQ Nordic has lifted the lid on its future plans just a smidge, following on from its acquisition of a lot of cool properties last year, allowing us to know that another Saints Row game is in the works as well as Dead Island 2 and some sort of content in the TimeSplitters franchise.
This news has come to light thanks to THQ Nordic’s latest financial report document, which details the upcoming projects of THQ Nordic’s internal publisher Deep Silver (which oversees the developers at such companies as Volition, Dambuster Studios and Fishblabs).
Lars Wingefors, founder and CEO of THQ Nordic, penned the report, with perhaps the biggest takeaway being the fact that Volition is “deep in development of a brand-new Saints Row game, the first full entry in this much loved series since Saints Row IV was released in 2013.” Whether or not this game will be titled Saints Row 5, Saints Row V, or something else entirely remains to be seen.
Dambuster Studios, meanwhile, have been “entrusted” with the Dead Island franchise. The company, which previously developed Homefront: The Revolution, will be “leading the development of Dead Island 2.” Wingefors seems quite chuffed to be “bringing the development of this key franchise to one of our internal studios.”
As for TimeSplitters, Wingefors is “delighted to announce that one of the series’ creators, Steve Ellis, has joined us to help plot the future course for this franchise.” The exact specifics of this future course have been left to our imagination for now.
Over at Fishlabs, the team there “is working on a new IP, as well as a number of unannounced projects.” As we hear more about all of these upcoming games, we’ll be sure to keep you updated.
