Free Radical Design’s TimeSplitters franchise was one of those odd yet insanely fun shooters, and despite its success, after TimeSplitters: Future Perfect on the PlayStation 2 and Gamecube, the franchise went dormant. THQ Nordic had acquired the rights to the franchise last year, but nothing came of it.
Today, however, THQ Nordic has announced that TimeSplitters co-creator Steve Ellis has joined the company to “plot the future course” of the franchise. This news comes after THQ Nordic teased fans back in May that we would see the return of the franchise back at E3.
No other details have been revealed, but with the fan-made sequel TimeSplitters Rewind still in development, this is fantastic news for those who enjoy a mix of sci-fi, horror and humour with their first-person shooter action.
This is on top of a busy day for THQ Nordic, as they also acquired several developers, including Darksiders makers Gunfire Games, as well as the announcement that come September, they will be known as Embracer Group.
