According to The Guardian, Cellicia Hunt threw a lit Molotov cocktail into the lobby of a USCIS office in Oakland Park, Florida on Friday. No one was injured, as the device did not ignite due to a detached fuse, but Florida law enforcement believes she intended to cause harm.
Hunt was immediately taken into custody and charged with maliciously attempting to damage or destroy a government by fire. She is being held without bail and expected to appear in federal court in Fort Lauderdale on Tuesday.
Ken Cuccinelli, acting director of the USCIS and supporter of Trump’s immigration policy, tweeted that the incident is “another example of the use of violence in place of debate by those who oppose the proper application of our immigration laws.”
This attack was not related to other recent incidents where homeland security agents were targeted, such as the shooting at ICE offices in San Antonio earlier this month.
