With New York Fashion Week drawing to a close with Marc Jacobs’ SS20 show tonight, tomorrow our attention turns to London where the next leg of the fashion season kicks off. On the line-up are a series of Dazed favourites in the form of Simone Rocha, Charlotte Knowles, and Dilara Findikoglu, as well as a whole host of new, emerging designers: with Fashion East’s new addition Ancuta Sarca, Dazed 100-er Gareth Wrighton, and Yuhan Wang all making up the ranks.
Having won fans in the form of Arca, Aquaria, and Beth Ditto, and appeared everywhere from the pages of Playboy to Dazed itself, O’Dwyer is intent on changing the face of fashion with her uniquely beautiful, sculptural silicone pieces – one belly roll and armpit bulge at a time. It goes without saying the London-based designer is a welcome addition on a scene where plus size bodies are notably still missing.
As well as the new collection itself, O’Dwyer is set to premiere a new short film and an accompanying zine. Working in collaboration with photographer Steph Wilson and an all-female cast and crew, Wear Me Like Water is a beautiful, languid exploration of the female body, all set in a shimmering blue swimming pool during the long days of summer.
Best of all, the event is open to all, with tickets available here – and, as if seeing an incredible series of artworks by an incredibly talented group of women was not enough, O’Dwyer has one more reason why you should add the date to your diary. “There’s going to be tequila!” she adds.
