1. Catholic Memorial (2-0) – Fast start propelled the Knights to a solid win over St. John’s (Shrewsbury).

2. St. John’s Prep (2-0) – Sophomore running back James Guy lived up to the hype against Haverhill.

3. Central Catholic (1-0) – Raiders proved they could match Springfield Central point for point and live to talk about it.

4. Natick (2-0) – Unlike last year, the Redhawks have come out of the gate flying.

8. Everett (1-1) – Much-needed win for the Crimson Tide Friday night.

9. Tewksbury (1-0) – I’m guessing there were plenty of smiles in the Aylward house Friday night.

10. Xaverian (0-2) – Hawks finally get a chance to play in the Hawk Bowl this weekend.

11. Franklin (2-0) – Panthers were extended by Andover, but survived.

12. Lynn English (1-0) – I guess the Mathias Fowler to quarterback experiment is going to work out just fine.

13. Melrose (1-0) – Talented Red Raiders had little trouble with Malden in the opener.

14. Marblehead (1-0) – Somehow I don’t think Marblehead coach Jim Rudloff was overly remorseful when he apologized for costing us a win in the weekly Pickorama.

15. Scituate (1-0) – Sailors get a real chance to test their mettle this week when Duxbury pays a visit. By the way, the game will be played on a neutral field in Norwell.

17. BC High (0-1) – Eagles get going once again when they face Marshfield at home Friday night.

18. Danvers (1-0) – After a week off, the Falcons return to the gridiron against a Lynn Classical riding high after its win over Brockton.

19. Hingham (2-0) – Defense rose to the challenge in its shutout victory over Abington.

20. Lincoln-Sudbury (1-0) – Once again, the Warriors relied on last-minute heroics to defeat Reading.

22. North Andover (0-1) – For the first time in 14 weeks, the Scarlet Knights head to practice this week looking to avenge a loss.

23. Reading (0-1) – A bright spot in the loss was the stellar play of freshman James Murphy, who threw for over 200 yards and three touchdowns.

24. Lynn Classical (1-1) – Quarterback Daniel Gisonno did it all in a win over Brockton.

25. Brockton (1-1) – After a huge season-opening win over Duxbury, the Boxers took a step back with a loss at Lynn Classical.
