Official IMAX Poster for 'Joker' Just Wants to Watch the World Burn

One of this year’s most talked about movies has proven to be director Todd PhillipsJoker (read Joe’s review), a new take on the iconic DC villain’s origin that stars Joaquin Phoenix as the Clown Prince of Crime. He’s always been the kind of guy who just wants to watch the world burn, and the brand new IMAX poster art for the film highlights that pretty damn well.

The art reminds us of the original Taxi Driver poster, and that seems rather fitting.

Joker comes to IMAX theatres for one week only starting October 3.

The film centers around the iconic arch nemesis and is an original, standalone fictional story not seen before on the big screen. Phillips’ exploration of Arthur Fleck, portrayed by Joaquin Phoenix, is of a man struggling to find his way in Gotham’s fractured society. A clown-for-hire by day, he aspires to be a stand-up comic at night…but finds the joke always seems to be on him. Caught in a cyclical existence between apathy and cruelty, Arthur makes one bad decision that brings about a chain reaction of escalating events in this gritty character study.
