Sing to me Paolo: why Cardi B thinks of Lizzie McGuire at fashion week

Despite turning a series of looks by the likes of Richard Quinn, Chanel, and Thom Browne at Paris Fashion WeekCardi B still believes she has something to prove when it comes to the fashion world.

Speaking at Vogue’s annual Forces of Fashion event in New York City yesterday, she discussed her relationship with the fashion industry and why she thinks of the Lizzie McGuire movie when she goes to events.

“They just ain’t gonna invite you to their shows. You’ve got to be into it and you’ve got to have a sense of style. It’s something that you’ve got to prove … has anyone seen that Hillary Duff movie? There’s a song in it that anytime I go to an event that I’ve always wanted to go to, I always play it in my head. It goes, ‘Hey now, hey now, this is what dreams are made of.’ That’s how I feel every single time that I get invited to these fashion events,” she explained to the audience.

Hosted by Anna Wintour, Cardi B was also joined by the likes of Tyler Mitchell, Marine Serre, Grace Wales Bonner, Kim Jones, Cindy Crawford, Kaia Gerber, and Tom Ford. Mitchell talked attendees through his journey towards shooting his history-making Beyoncé cover for Vogue, while Serre and Wales Bonner discussed starting their own brands and finding their feet in the fashion industry.

The event continues today with the likes of Olivier Rousteing, Kerby Jean-Raymond, and Donatella Versace all set to appear.
