Bishop Briggs Announces 'Champion' Album, Drops 'Jekyll & Hide' Single

On Friday (Oct. 11), Bishop Briggs announced her second studio album Champion, which is due via Island Records on Nov. 8. Following the summer release of the project’s title track, Champion has already delivered its next single: “JEKYLL & HIDE.”

“The title is spelt Hide not Hyde. GET IT!??!!!!!” Briggs teased in a press release. “Word play gets me way too hype. I wrote this one with k.flay and it was produced by Joel Little. In the chorus, we wrote, ‘Are you Jekyll & Hyde-ing me?’ as a way to describe the chaotic feeling of dating someone who has two very different sides. I hope you like it.”

The fluctuating characters from Robert Louis Stevenson’s 1886 novel Jekyll & Hyde play tricks on the singer in this angsty, alternative-pop track. “I was yesterday’s regret/ But today I woke up in your bed,” she laments about her confusing relationship status.

The accompanying visualizer plays off the lyric “I can’t sleep in the dark,” as Briggs lurks around in the shadows of the black-and-white clip. Her barking further breathes life into the fiery track.
