Top 5 Performances of 2019 Latin AMAs

The 2019 Latin American Music Awards hit Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre on Thursday night (Oct. 17) with a star-studded lineup. Between tributes, premieres, and collaborations, the different performances of the evening were one for the books.

Billboard put together five of the most memorable highlights of the 2019 Latin AMAs below.

Daddy Yankee premieres new song

Daddy Yankee really shocked fans when he dropped a brand new song at the Latin AMAs, titled “Que Tire Pa’ Lante.” In true DY fashion, the song takes it back an old-school reggaeton and ‘90s dembow beat, featuring the voices of some of today’s hottest urban acts such as Anuel AA, Natti Natasha, and Zion & Lennox. His performances was presented by Lunay and Snow.

Becky G wins the Extraordinary Evolution Award

Pitbull, who has known Becky G since she was 15 years old, proudly presented Becky G with the special Latin AMA Extraordinary Evolution award. After a short clip showing Becky’s evolution in the music industry, the singer performed a medley of her hits “Mayores,” “Sin Pijama,” and new single “Mala Santa.” During her speech, she thanked her supportive family, her team, her beloved Beasters for accepting her as a Mexican-American singer, and her grandparents, who taught her to love her Latina roots.

Pitbull, Ne-Yo, Lenier & El Micha

Bringing the Cuban movement to the forefront, Lenier, Pitbull and El Micha performed a brand-new collaboration joined by Ne-Yo at the 2019 Latin American Music Awards. The four artists presented “Me Quedare Contigo,” a song that Lenier composed a while back and which Pitbull liked and proposed the project to Ne-Yo.

Wisin & Yandel premiere “Chica Bombastic”

Wisin & Yandel premiered their new single “Chica Bombastic” at the 2019 Latin American Music Awards. The song, which is about a girl who likes to do bad things, not only takes it back to the Puerto Rican duo’s essential sound as heard in “Rakata” and other classics but also gives us major “Boombastic” vibes by Shaggy.

Piso 21 & Christian Nodal flaunt their trapchera

At the 2019 Latin AMAs, the Colombian group and Regional-Mexican artist performed their trapchera “Pa’ Olvidarme de Ella,” showing that a fusion between pop-urban and regional Mexican music is not only possible but quite the infectious mix.
