There’s just under two months to go now until the release of the final film in the ‘Skywalker Saga’, Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker, and while things have been pretty quiet on the promo front since Disney‘s D23 Expo back in August, we’ve now got a final, full-length trailer to whet our appetite.
Once again directed by The Force Awakens‘ JJ Abrams, taking the baton from The Last Jedi‘s Rian Johnson, The Rise Of Skywalker looks set to round off the most recent Star Wars trilogy with a bang. And, as always, the filmmakers have done a good job of cutting together an enticing looking preview while not giving away any real plot details.
What we do know is that what remains of the Resistance – including Rey (Daisy Ridley), Finn (John Boyega), Poe (Oscar Isaac) and Leia (the late Carrie Fisher) – will be making their last stand against a determined Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) and the full might of the First Order. Orchestrating proceedings from the shadows is a familiar menace, too – erstwhile emperor Palpatine, who apparently carked it at the end of Return Of The Jedi, has found a way to return, and his presence hangs over this latest footage.

So there you have it: two minutes worth of huge space battles, epic lightsaber duels, watery planets, emotional reunions (“taking one last look…at my friends”) and intriguing voiceovers. It’s all stirring stuff, designed to get us all excited ahead of the film’s long-awaited release this festive season.
Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker hits cinemas on 19 December.
